NAMI Chicago

Events

NAMI Chicago hosts an annual Gala called ‘Light the Darkness”, in which conversations are started in order to fight stigma and generate hope for people living with mental illness. NoStigmas

This non-profit’s primary goal is to foster awareness and break down the stigma surrounding mental illness. This grassroots organization is created by and for people who have been affected by mental illness.

Youth Outreach Services

YOS strives to support at risk youth, as well as these childrens’ broader families and communities. During the last 60 years, the organization has empowered more than 300 000 children and families in need. This has been achieved through a series of therapy, welfare, abuse and substance use programs.

Volunteer

Signature Events

#GivingTuesday takes place shortly after Thanksgiving each year. This event assists volunteers in fundraising to provide Thanksgiving gifts to children who are at risk. Alternatively, YOS hosts an annual summer barbeque event for their youth. Volunteers can assist with event coordination and company sponsors are also welcomed. Jewish Child & Family Services

This organization draws on the Jewish concept of Tikkun Olam, which translates to “repairing the world”. The organization seeks to provide healing interventions, to care for the needy and to foster social justice more generally. JCFS services are available to all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender or disability.

Cradles to Crayons

This organization’s overarching mission is to address the needs of children living in poverty. They supply resources and materials free of charge, in order to help disadvantaged children under the age of 12 to reach their true potential.
