Welcome to the Phoenix Story Collective!
A person’s story is one of the most powerful things they hold. When you have the ability to share your experiences with another and it feels safe to be vulnerable, it creates space for tremendous healing to occur. For many who have experienced trauma, it is common to feel alone and isolated and to struggle to make meaning after injurious events. Stressful situations can accumulate and feel larger than they once did. It can seem more difficult to manage life’s smaller hurdles.
I am a former Marine with a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Chicago. I started my counseling career serving children, adolescents and families impacted by trauma and community violence. I felt it was important to become trained in the most research effective therapies, as I saw the effects of trauma on individuals and communities. I received rigorous training in evidence-based methods through the government and spent several years providing psychotherapy for active duty service members, veterans and their families with the Department of Defense and then with Veteran Affairs, emphasizing on OIF/OEF/OND (Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts).
I understand that it can be difficult to access quality healthcare and I am dedicated to providing services that reach you right where you are at. I specialize in treating PTSD, depression, substance abuse, anxiety, complicated grief and adjustment issues. I utilize a variety of therapy modalities because I strongly believe that each person’s journey to heal is unique and needs to be tailored with voice and choice.
