How Many People

We work hard to make sure we know as much as possible about bullying and how it happens, and we’re always gathering information from young people so we have a real picture:

What’s the problem?

  • Most research says that one in every three children have experienced bullying. For some research, as many as 70% of all young people have experienced some form of bullying
  • One million kids are bullied every week, inside and outside of school
  • Bullying is the biggest concern for children (and parents!) as they grow up
  • At least 20 children every year commit suicide because they are being bullied.

But what about cyberbullying?

BeatBullying asked over 2,000 young people about cyberbullying to find out what’s going on.

  • 30% said they’d been cyberbullied
  • 63% said that the bullying started offline and then happened online
  • 33% have committed some form of cyberbullying against their peers.

Bullying is one of the biggest issues facing all young people.  The good news is that there are millions of young people who want to do something about it.

If you’re being bullied, you’re not alone, talk to a mentor.
